Mac To Go: More for Less

By Enza Sebastiani

San Francisco, California - December 19, 2002

2002 has been the year of change of Apple’s policy for pricing new machines vs. the previous ones.

Apple renewed the complete line of iBooks and Powerbooks G4, by improving speed and performance, and lowering prices as well.

Apple portables are now priced very closely to the PC Wintel, ending once again the legend that "Macs are more expensive."

What's inside Apple machines is often forgotten. A Mac is not only "plug & play," but it is loaded with software to keep users busy simply browsing the net, playing video games, or creating word processing documents as well as making videos with the incredibly easy to use iMovie editing software.

Those movies, still images (organized with iPhoto) now can be shared in a more elegant and functional way by burning them on DVDs with one more "drag and drop" Apple application called iDVD (ready out of the box as well).

Posting your content on the web with “.mac” without any knowledge of HTML is another step forward to distribute your multimedia projects.

What about music and sounds? Loading, organizing and compiling over 4500 songs with iTunes has been my latest DJ project. Yes, iTunes too, is already there, in the ultimate multimedia box: the Mac.

In today's world, where work life is mostly spent on the road, what more can you ask for than a 1 GHz, ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 Video Card, DVD + CD Burner Powerbook G4 Titanium ready for the greatest adventure?
